Who I am
Helpful Cousin is run by Infinite Intelligence Pty Ltd. I'm based in Australia. You can reach me at help@helpfulcousin.com.au.
What I collect
Your name — whatever you tell me to call you. Your phone number — so I can verify it's you. Your email address — if you provide one. Your story — what you tell me about your situation. Your documents — photos or files you share with me. The AI analysis of your documents and any generated response letters. Your browser language — so I can speak your language.
If you come back and tell me how things went, I keep that too — it helps me write better responses for others.
How I use it
I read your documents and write your response. I remember your situation so I can help better next time. I use anonymised data to learn what works against different institutions — but never in a way that identifies you.
Third-Party Processors
When you use this service, your story and any uploaded documents are transmitted to Anthropic (San Francisco, USA) for AI processing via their Claude API. Anthropic does not use your data to train AI models. Your data is processed in accordance with Anthropic's commercial terms and is not retained by Anthropic beyond the processing request. Under the Australian Privacy Principles, we are required to inform you when personal information is disclosed to an overseas recipient. By using this service, you consent to this processing.
Voice recordings are sent to Deepgram (United States) for transcription. The audio is deleted immediately — only the text is kept.
SMS verification goes through Twilio (United States).
Your data is stored by Supabase, encrypted in transit and at rest.
By using Helpful Cousin, you consent to this overseas disclosure. Under Australian Privacy Principle 8, I'm required to tell you this, and I take reasonable steps to make sure these providers protect your information.
How long I keep it
As long as your account is active. We delete data within 30 days of your request. The more I know about your history, the better I can help next time.
Phone verification codes are deleted within 24 hours. Voice recordings are deleted immediately after transcription — I never store audio.
To request access to or deletion of your data, email help@helpfulcousin.com.au. We will respond within 30 days. When I delete, I delete — your name, phone number, story, documents, everything. Gone.
Your rights
Under Australian Privacy Principles, you can ask to see everything I know about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it.
Email help@helpfulcousin.com.au and I'll respond within 30 days. Right now I handle these requests manually. As I grow, I'll build a way for you to do this yourself.
Cookies and tracking
I don't use third-party cookies. I don't track you across the web. I don't show ads. I don't sell your data.
I do track what happens inside the flow — which screens you visit, how long things take — so I can make the experience better. This stays in my database and isn't shared.
Children
Helpful Cousin is not designed for people under 16. If you're under 16, please use this with a parent or guardian.
If something goes wrong with your data
If there's ever a data breach affecting your information, I'll notify you within 30 days and report it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required.
Complaints
If you think I've mishandled your data, email me first at help@helpfulcousin.com.au. I take complaints seriously and will respond within 30 days.
If that doesn't resolve it, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.
